The Story of ISK
Every great journey begins with a single step — or in our case, a small, passionate group of fifteen students gathered in a converted hotel in Kimihurura. It was 2009, and from that modest beginning, a vision for world-class international education in the heart of Rwanda was born.
As our community grew, so did our ambitions. The warmth and curiosity of our students fueled a period of rapid development, leading us in 2014 to a landmark moment: the opening of our purpose-built campus in the lush surroundings of Nyarutarama. This space became the foundation for our expanding curriculum and our deep commitment to academic excellence.
By 2020, our family had grown even further. To ensure that our older students had the space and specialized resources they needed to thrive, our High School moved to its own dedicated campus, marking a new chapter of independence and academic rigor.
ISK relocated to our vibrant Kibabagabaga campus, where our highly international community gathers, learns, and prepares to make an impact on the world.
Our future story will develop through the pursuit of three strategic directions.

Through evidence-based and innovative teaching, we ensure that students achieve high levels of academic mastery. By offering differentiated instruction, meaningful student support, and opportunities to pursue personal passions, we empower learners to build confidence, resilience, and the habits of successful, well-rounded individuals who can empathetically navigate uncertainty and thrive in diverse and dynamic contexts.
As a vibrant international community rooted in Rwanda, we prepare students to develop a strong sense of belonging while gaining the skills to navigate complexity, lead across cultures, and contribute meaningfully in a rapidly changing world. Education at ISK extends beyond the classroom, grounding learning in the local context while opening pathways to global understanding and opportunity. To sustain this mission over the long term, we are committed to being meaningfully embedded in the country we serve while remaining globally connected. By aligning with Rwanda's development trajectory and cultivating reciprocal relationships with local institutions, businesses, and global networks, we strengthen our institutional sustainability and long-term community stability, positioning ISK not as an enclave but as a globally connected leadership institution contributing to Rwanda and beyond.
