Matatu Online Privacy Policy

Matatu Online — Multiplayer Card Game by Kamagram

Effective date: 7 July 2026

Provider: Kamagram ("we", "us")

Matatu Online is a multiplayer card game. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built the game to need as little personal information as possible: no email, no phone number, no real name, no location, and no advertising.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Username. You choose a username (or tap Skip and we generate a random one, e.g. luckyshark988). It is shown to other players you play with. It does not need to be — and we suggest it is not — your real name.
  • Password (optional). If you create a password-protected account, we store the password only as a secure one-way hash. We never store or see the plain-text password. Guest accounts have no password.

Information created by playing

  • Gameplay data. Games you take part in, the cards played in those games, game results, wins/losses, streaks, and similar statistics.
  • Multiplayer activity. Invitations you send and receive, lobbies you join, in-game emotes you send, and your online/in-game status, which other players can see while playing with you.

Technical information

  • Platform type. We record which client a game was played from (Android, iOS, or web) to operate and improve the game.
  • Connection data. Standard technical data needed to deliver the service (such as your device's IP address reaching our servers). We do not use it to profile you.

What we do NOT collect

  • No email address or phone number
  • No precise or approximate location
  • No contacts, photos, files, or other device content
  • No advertising identifiers; the app contains no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs

2. How we use information

  • To operate the game: match you with other players, run games in real time, show usernames and turn status, and keep score.
  • To maintain your statistics (wins, losses, streaks).
  • To secure the service and prevent cheating or abuse.
  • We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own purposes.

3. Where information is stored

Game data is stored on our servers, currently hosted on cloud infrastructure (Heroku). Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS / secure WebSockets).

Some preferences (such as your chosen card skin, and locally saved single-player games) are stored only on your device.

4. How long we keep information

Account and gameplay data is kept while your account exists so that your statistics and game history work. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove the account and its personal identifiers from active systems within 30 days.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Play as a guest. You can play with a random username and no password.
  • Deletion. Email support@kamagram.com with your username and we will delete your account and its associated data.
  • Access / correction. Contact us at the same address to ask what data we hold about your username or to correct it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law (such as the GDPR in the EU or Law No. 058/2021 in Rwanda). We honour valid requests regardless of region.

6. Children

Matatu Online is a general-audience card game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no email, name, or contact details are required to play, the game collects the same minimal information from all players. If you believe a child has created an account and you want it removed, contact us.

7. Security

We use encrypted transport for all traffic, hash all passwords, and limit stored data to what the game needs. No online service is 100% secure, but the small amount of data we hold limits the impact of any incident.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continued use of the game after a change means you accept the updated policy.
